Condition Body:
We booked at the Long Bay Beach resort a beachfront room which had a gorgeous high vaulted wooden ceiling, a very large king sized bed, and a full length sliding schooner door, so we had just the most gorgeous views, and there was a cosy sun deck for us to sit on. The air conditioning worked well and we weren’t frozen as we have been in other places, and I can’t complain at all in this area how well we were looked after.
We woke every morning to the sound of the sea, opening the curtains, and seeing the view was nearly the most outstanding part of our vacation. On top of this, the island of Tortola itself is simply gorgeous, with plenty to see and do, and there are excursions to a number of other islands you can take such as Virgin Gorda, and Jost Van Dyke.
It has to be said though you will need mosquito resistant cream!!!
There were complaints in this area the beach being too rocky and loads of sea urchins, but people are so bone idle on their vacation. If you were prepared to walk a small way up the beach, and they disappear!
There is an all inclusive option, but quite frankly I reckon it is such a waste. All inclusive is fantastic when there is nowhere to go because your hotel is miles from anywhere, or the surrounding area isn’t safe, but Tortola is lovely, there are excellent restaurants and the crime rate is low.
I would advise you to rent a car, it’s not expensive in the BVI and it is much better than taxis for exploring. You should drive, not walk to Smugglers Cove, Cane Garden Bay, and visit Quito’s, where the food is nearly as excellent as the music!!
Bananakeet Café on Carrot Bay is also worth a visit for their frozen drink selection.
All in all the Long bay Beach Resort is a excellent hotel, but not for all inclusive, a gorgeous beach but not for swimming if it was at all rough, with a lack of water sports, very helpful staff, and a gorgeous situation
